Dragons are legendary creatures, typically with serpentine or otherwise reptilian traits, that feature in the myths of many cultures.
There are two distinct cultural traditions of dragons: the European dragon, derived from European folk traditions and ultimately related to Greek and Middle Eastern mythologies, and the Chinese dragon, with counterparts in Japan, Korea and other Asian countries.
The Dragons in this story are China and Russia. In many cases, the “snakes” are bands of “terrorists” and non-state armed groups.
What is clear from this book is that China, Russia, and the Islamists view the US as the enemy. Kilcullen provides a good overview of the current military threats/5(44).
Nine Dragons is a decent book and worth a read, I was hooked for a great deal of the book and struggled to put it down. I was disappointed by the last Dragons! book or two unfortunately, but maybe that's just me. I'm still a huge Connelly fan, and if you are too this is still well worth picking up/5(K).
